Is the CB Group for you?

If you’re ready to make a difference, then this might be the place for you.

Trecia Brown
Senior Manager – Distribution, CB Foods

When I first got to CBG, I was asked what my passion was and to be honest I didn’t readily know, but through this journey I have moved from general operations to being more specialized and getting an energy burst from it in the process ! I started in 2016 as a Business Analyst in the BizTech department at the Group Office. Then I moved to the distribution team as an Assistant Manager in Demand Planning at the Freetown location. My portfolio expanded to include Arnold Road shipping and finally I became the Facility Manager. To be honest, the work can be challenging but the people make the environment a fun place to be in.

Having a nice cross-section experience & a blend of personalities…that’s what I look forward to everyday. What makes CBG different is the CEO’s drive to make the organization have mind-blowing encounters which transition into sensational experiences. He constantly looks for the next best innovation to be introduced. I am looking forward to more unexpected encounters which can continue to shape and even shift my career trajectory.

CBG, SURPRISE ME, what’s next?!

Machel Wedderburn
Assistant Plant Manager – Newport Mills

I started at the CBG as a contracted Maintenance Technician at the Arnold Road facility. Later, I was promoted to Team Lead followed by Maintenance Foreman. I was then transferred to Newport Mills as a Maintenance supervisor and now I am the Assistant Plant Manager; the latter is exactly what I like about CBG - the growth opportunities it provides for its people.

You can start on the lower rungs of the ladder and move up. I’m living proof of that. So, what’s different about CBG? We are not content with being just a chicken company. We are constantly venturing into new avenues that makes us a diverse and sustainable company .

Furthermore, through the company I can have community impact by being a part of a group –“Friends Who Cares”, we invest our time and resources into helping children living with HIV at the Mustard Seed Children’s Home. This has been a truly rewarding experience

Opal Wellington
Assistant Manager - People Services

I started with the CB Group in 2012 as a Temp and became permanent as a Purchasing Coordinator responsible for two operations in 2013. 8 years later, what a ride! In 2016 my manager said “I have an idea”, he wanted me to pursue a career path in HR even though I studied Operations as he thought I would be a good fit. I discussed with “the fam” and here I am today touching people’s lives with my sunshine.

I love that I get to float to different locations. I love the people, the atmosphere, and the flexibility of my working hours (I have a young child so this flexibility really helps). I get to appreciate the “why” we do what we do, especially having gone through the pandemic, and further understanding why being in the food industry is critical to the survival of the nation.

Through CBG, I give back to my community through Labour Day activities, recycling initiatives, children homes, the Junior Achievement program where I can be a teacher for a day and share my work life experience - I remind students you don’t have to be a doctor or nurse as a career choice, there are other options like working in Agriculture.

Grow With Us

Talent retention is a big part of the CB Group people strategy. As much as you grow and learn as an individual, we create new opportunities for you to put those skills to good use! Whether it’s job rotation, job enlargement or a totally new job altogether, we love tapping into potential and allowing talent to shine where most passionate and purposeful.

Be A Hero

We strive to build rewards and recognition into our culture from the first day you join us to the day you may choose to pursue another opportunity. A part of that is recognizing the role you play in your own communities to make them a better place. In honour of all you do, we have an award programme where you can get sizeable donations to your charity or project of choice, as well as a personal cash prize.

We Got You Covered

When “I” is replaced with “we” even illness becomes wellness. Health & wellness is a team sport, and at CB Group we are committed to playing our role in offering support to keep our team members at their best. We offer health & wellness benefits through insurance policies and sponsored medical services.
