I applied to CBG while living in Barbados. I did every interview online (which wasn’t the norm back then!) and took a leap of faith. I was moving back to Jamaica to join an industry I didn’t fully understand… yet.

When I joined CBG, I’ll admit... I was hesitant. But they saw something in me beyond my MSc title. They considered my experiences, passion for people, and hunger to learn. They took a chance. And for that, I’ll always be grateful.Three months in, I was dropped into the deep end of PAN 2018. Record numbers, high expectations, and me, fresh in the door. But with the support of the team and a loyal CBG army of volunteers, we made magic. That moment lit a fire within me.

I started out as a Marketing Coordinator - from farm to factory, trade to table - I was exposed to the full business and learnt what it truly means to feed a nation. I never thought I’d fall in love with agriculture, but here I am, proud to be part of something that truly matters for Jamaica.

Over the years, I’ve grown through four different roles to now leading as Commercial Marketing Manager for Food Distribution. I’ve been challenged, stretched, and invested in. I’ve learned to be agile, to stay committed, and to lean into the discomfort that comes with real growth.

My entry into the CBG family was nothing short of spectacular. From the banner declaring, "We choose you!", to a gift basket filled with treats and that stimulating book, "Think Big".

In my mind, the decision was already foregone. But wait… were these people buttering me up for the storm ahead? Is this too good to be true? Is this the real deal? I refused to be conned into a trap.

A year and half later, my apprehension is non-existent. The vision, values and behaviours of our company is not just wall graphics, company literature, or adjunct theories to be disposed of into the subliminal. People actually apply them! (shocked face).During my tenure, I have witnessed individuals, teams and entire departments transformed, plans executed, some fall apart, and successes cultivated through deliberate actions, training, coaching, and a multitude of workshops.Of course, the gauntlet was laid bare, but I have felt welcomed, supported, and motivated to accomplish the goals, whether improving loading efficiency time, formulating new haulage frameworks or reducing damaged and equipment downtime.

Not only am I excited to see the plans for the future come to fruition, but eager to make them happen!

Hatchery Manager
Started: 2002

2002! Wow where has the time gone? I started my CBG journey at Caribbean Hatchery Limited as a contracted Production Worker. A few years later, after the installation of additional machines, I was contracted as a Machine Operator  responsible for egg setting and transferring. Fast forward to 2011, an opportunity arose in Logistics and Distribution at our Freetown Cold Storage facility where I took on the role of Shipping Supervisor.  Then came a turning point in 2014, when I had to make a decision to either continue on the CBG journey or pursue an external opportunity. A wise Divisional Manager (T.C.) at the time stood with me outside the facility one evening and said, "Where you are going, will you grow? Just look around CB -  there are growth opportunities everywhere".

In 2015 I returned to the Hatchery where growth was indeed. I moved from being a Production Supervisor at Caribbean Hatchery to Peninsula Hatchery in 2018, CB Group's first Single Stage Hatchery. I was later nominated for the "Level Up" Management Trainee Programme, where my professional and personal skills where enhanced, and in 2021 I was promoted to Assistant Hatchery Manager.

And, in 2024 another promotion! I was given the responsibility of managing both hatcheries at CBG. What makes CB Group a great place to work is that once you apply yourself and have the right mindset, growth opportunities are present from day one.
