Imagination Farms brings the same principles that fueled our livestock success to fresh produce and crops: applied research, quality genetics, modern technology, contract farming, and a deep commitment to consistency and customer satisfaction.
Since 2010, we've been exploring the "What IF?" at our operations based at The Nest in Jamaica. Our mission is simple: plant seeds for local growth and global reach while building sustainable agricultural industries.
We became the world's largest grower of WISIC, one of the globe's rarest and most luxurious cottons.
Of the 110 million bales of cotton produced globally each year, just 150 are WISIC. In 2017, ICA Bremen in Germany declared our cotton "the whitest ever tested" worldwide. We successfully exported 23,000 pounds to The Albini Group, proving Jamaica can compete at the highest levels of global agriculture.
When Jamaica was importing over 300,000 kg of frozen sweet corn annually, we stepped in to build local production.
Starting with a trial crop in 2016, we scaled up by 500% within two years and boosted output another 50% by 2021. Today, Jamaica is self-sufficient in sweet corn, and we're proud to have catalyzed that transformation.
We discovered that 88% of Jamaica's onions were imported and saw an opportunity to change that.
From a 10-acre trial in 2015, we became Jamaica's largest local onion producer, contributing over 9% of national supply. We built the country's first onion drying facility and trained farmers through workshops and technical support. Jamaica's local onion production grew from 800 metric tonnes in 2017 to over 6,000 metric tonnes in 2023, a remarkable 644% increase.
We're scaling production of Jamaica's iconic Scotch Bonnet Pepper to meet growing global demand.
Through partnerships with contract farmers, we now produce over 200,000 kilograms annually. We're strengthening the supply chain so more value-added products can be made from 100% Jamaican-grown Scotch Bonnet Peppers.
Our plant nursery operation at Harvest Hub reduces germination risks, shortens crop cycles, and increases yields for farmers across Jamaica.
Quality seeds and seedlings are the foundation of a thriving agricultural industry, and we're ensuring consistent supply of climate-suitable varieties.
With Jamaica's rich climate and natural resources, we're shifting focus to long-term, high-value crops: ackee, breadfruit, and coconut.
Global demand is rising and the potential is right here at home. We're excited to help build these industries from the ground up, creating new opportunities for Caribbean agriculture.
We don't just grow crops, we build industries. Through innovation, research, and partnerships with local farmers, we've helped transform Jamaica's agricultural landscape and proven that local production can compete globally.
